Malta Student Visa

Malta is situated in the EU’s border control-free Schengen area. This means people traveling from Germany and Italy do not require a visa to enter Malta.

Citizens of the EU, EEA, and Switzerland can stay in Malta without a visa. However, International people would require visa approval.

How Does Student Visa in Malta Work?

Whether it is a short-term course or a long-term course, before entering the country, students will have to enroll for a tourist visa which is of 90 days of duration.

 The student can apply for a visa extension which is also called a long study ‘D’ student visa, which is issued for a maximum stay of 365 days.

      A student visa is applicable only for those courses that last for more than 3 months. With a Malta student visa, a student will have to study at least 15 hours per week. 

      International students can study as well as work in Malta if the courses are for more than 3 months.

      If the international student gets a job through an extended visa in Malta, then the student can apply for a work permit.

      The work permit allows students to work 20 hours a week legally and the minimum wage should be EUR 4.60 per hour.

      Two passport-size photographs.

      Passport with at least two blank pages and copies of the previous visa.  The previous visas are valid for at least three months after the returning date.

      A copy of the flight ticket reservation. However, it is not recommended to buy the tickets unless a visa is not obtained.

      Travel medical insurance coverage of a minimum of 30,000 EUR within Malta and the entire Schengen area.

      A visa letter explaining the purpose of visiting visa along with a detailed itinerary.

 A copy of marriage certificate/birth certificate of children/death certificate of a spouse to prove marital/current relationship status.

      Residential verification for the entire stay in Malta.

Work While Studying In Malta 

Indian students are allowed to work while studying in Malta with a business license.

The business permit is given in 4 – a month and a half, following which the understudy can start working.

After getting an examination visa for a term longer than the underlying 90 days may you apply for a functioning license.

      You are not allowed to work in Malta for the initial 90 days while selecting a program.
